LODGING - KAROO1
Eco-architecture with sand and straw
Cool in summer and snug in winter...
The architecture of the 31 luxury suites may be one of traditional Cape Dutch Karoo style, but the real value lies within the walls made of sand bags and straw bales. The sun too, is harnessed by a unique solar system designed to produce hot water at minimal input. The desire to work with nature is a way of living at Karoo 1.
Most of the furniture in your room is made by local craftsmen and you will be transported into another world by the beautiful creations of artists from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Madagascar.
All rooms are en-suite with bath and/or shower and look out onto the garden and surrounding mountains.
